This publication documents two solo exhibitions, Reverse Side of the Surface and BORDER, held in 2024.

Designed to open from either side, the book brings together the two exhibitions—one centered on the constellation series and the other on the border series—within a single volume, offering a comprehensive overview of the artist’s work. At the center of the publication is an essay by Hitoshi Dehara, Director of Arts Maebashi.

The book was designed by graphic designer Yuri Mikami, who incorporated a variety of devices throughout the publication that synchronize the act of turning pages with the conceptual framework of the artworks and exhibitions. The design encourages readers to engage physically with the book, echoing the themes explored in Hanaki’s practice.
