Cooperation: KAMADA・GALLERY HAM
April 25th (Friday) - May 2nd (Friday), 2025
This exhibition will feature vintage furniture by Danish furniture designer Mogens Koch and prints from the 1960s and 1970s by German contemporary artist Gerhard Richter.
Mogens Koch (born 1898) designed his signature work, the "Book Case," in 1928. Its structure, with its tense interweaving of vertical and horizontal lines, and its simple yet beautiful design are still highly regarded around the world, even now, nearly 100 years later.
Meanwhile, Gerhard Richter (born 1932) emigrated from Dresden, East Germany to Düsseldorf, West Germany in 1961, just before the construction of the Berlin Wall. Having received an education in socialist realism, it is believed that it was after this move that he became influenced by capitalist realism and pop art. His prints incorporate elements of various series that have left a strong mark on art history, such as photo paintings, gray paintings, color charts, cityscapes, and seascapes, and each one displays a strong commitment to production methods and expression.
