1940 Born in Tokyo, the eldest son of Ikeda Hyoa I I, bamboo art master.
1950 Begin his studies in bamboo art under his father.
1956 Start his study of tea-ceremony under Dohi Kozen, tea master of Edo-Senke
1960 Study urushi under Akaji Yusai (living national treasure of urushi art) [–’84]
1963 Graduate from the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, majored in urushi art
1965 Study urushi art under Matsuda Gonroku (living national treasure of urushi art) [–’87]
1968 Start his study of tea-ceremony under Suzuki Souho, tea master of Ura-Senke [–’83]
